Audio Podcast: Sandra Gilbert
I just finished speaking with poet, critic, essayist, and teacher Sandra Gilbert. She has published seven collections of poetry, including the recent Belongings; she is also the co-editor of The Norton Anthology of Literature By Women and coauthor of the celebrated The Madwoman in the Attic: The Woman Writer and the 19th-century Literary Imagination. Her awards, honors, and critical publications are truly too numerous to list. We discussed why the sonnet still has life left in it, the emotional fallout from September 11th, our Sicilian forebears, and the poet's role in a violent culture. This was a really great talk--check it out at the Writers At Cornell Blog.
