Audio Podcast: Yvette Christiansë
This morning I spoke with the poet and novelist Yvette Christiansë. She was born in South Africa under apartheid and emigrated with her parents via Swaziland to Australia at the age of 18; she now teaches at Fordham University and has written two books, the poetry collection Castaway and a novel, Unconfessed. We discussed the effect of exile upon her creative life, the limitations and opportunities history brings to a work of fiction, and why barre chords are not necessarily the best way to play rock guitar. Check it out at the Writers At Cornell blog.
